What is the usual ring/inch for redwood tops? I got me some WAAAY tight-grained redwood. I lost count / went cross-eyed at 50/inch. I'll post some pics if I get a chance but doubt the rings will be visible. It's difficult to see with regular eyeballs much less a point and shoot in the hands of a caffeine junkie!

Take a magnifying glass and a pencil. Mark it every ten grains. Then count your marks and multiply by ten. I did this on some red cedar and in eight inches it was 170 years.

I've seen it anywhere from 4 lines per inch to close to 75...or more.

Bruce,
Took you 170 years to count eight inches? Man... I'm not sure I have the time left to do that....

Yes indeed. They are some fabulous tops. I pick them up 2X/day and tap on them... Still acclimatizing before joining. The rain and humidity aren't doing me any good currently (big hailstorms today).

Just scored 3 sets of Walnut B/S from Bluespirit. Little by little.
